 Abstract

The growing environmental concerns and the need for sustainable construction materials have led to a reevaluation of traditional concrete compositions. This research investigates the feasibility and performance of integrating bamboo fiber and Manufactured Sand (Manufactured sand) as substitutes for natural sand in concrete. The study begins by assessing the mechanical, durability, and structural properties of concrete when incorporating bamboo fibers, renowned for their tensile strength and eco-friendly characteristics. Additionally, the use of M-Sand as a replacement for natural sand, with varying percentages (50%, 60%, 70% and 80%) in concrete mix design with 4% Bamboo fiber streams as an admixture. The research involves a comprehensive analysis of the composite material's strength, workability, and long-term durability under various environmental conditions. Laboratory experiments and performance evaluations are conducted to determine the optimal combination of bamboo fiber and M-Sand in concrete mixtures, considering factors such as compressive strength, flexural strength, and resistance to abrasion. In this experimental study, concrete cubes of M-20 and M-25 grade were cast and subjected to various tests to analyze properties such as compressive strength and workability. The study spans a duration of 7, 28, and 90 days, examining both fresh and hardened concrete properties. Furthermore, the study investigates the impact of this innovative composite on reducing carbon emissions associated with traditional concrete production. The findings of this research provide valuable insights into the viability of bamboo fiber and Manufactured sand integration as a sustainable alternative to conventional concrete. The potential benefits include enhanced mechanical properties, reduced environmental impact, and the promotion of eco-friendly construction practices. This study reveals a notable increase in concrete compressive strength with the use of Manufactured sand, achieving maximum strengths. Additionally, the incorporation of bamboo fiber enhances concrete properties, preventing cracks and failures.
